Reed Professional Services is seeking a Data Engineer to join a prominent UK-based media client on an initial 6-month contract. The role encompasses a range of configuration and documentation tasks, aimed at delivering services on time and to high quality standards. The ideal candidate will be independent, with the ability to start and drive projects forward effectively.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Perform configuration and documentation tasks within the data engineering team.
- Collaborate across departments to enhance the streaming platform’s data structures and pipelines.
- Continuously improve performance by handling queries and compiling user data.
- Work with the Behavioural Data Engineering/Streaming Data Management team.
- Design and construct data pipelines to meet the needs of the product management team.
- Maintain and ensure the functionality of existing data pipelines.
- Recommend and implement service upgrades in response to new GCP feature releases.
- Manage changes to tracking specifications as dictated by product and feature teams.
- Provide 24/7 on-call support for critical issues and extended office hours support for lower priority issues.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of GCP (Google Cloud Platform), its capabilities, and services.
- Experience in a Scrum environment and using tools like Jira and Confluence.
- Proficiency in technologies such as Dataflow, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, Cloud Functions, Compute, Memorystore/Redis, and Kafka.
- Programming expertise in Java, Python, and Terraform.
- Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining data pipelines and processing services.
- Ability to effectively manage service upgrades and tracking specifications.
